Hey all, haven't posted in a long time, but lurked for a while. I have a question I'm hoping you all can help me with.

My Mom has requested new pots and pans for their holiday gift this year. Obviously this can be an expensive endeavor, but I'd like to get her one or two and give her some good suggestions. The thing is, she explicitly asked for "light weight" pots and pans as it is difficult for her to work with heavy cookware. Any suggestions for good quality, durable, light weight pots and pans?

This would preferably be something we could purchase in a store, as I'm sure she would want to try them out (weight wise) first.

Thoughts? TIA!

I use an awful lot of lemons every week in making my semi-commercial quantities of ginger beer at the moment, and went looking for things to do with the leftover lemon peel. A lot of browsing candied lemon peel recipes later, someone made a passing reference to doing them in the crockpot.

Can anyone tell me how? And other ideas to use up the lemons would be welcome too :)

This actually is the best banana bread you will ever taste. I'm serious. Whichever minion of Martha's came up with it deserves a nice firm handshake and a cigar. Or something. Anyways, this is the moistest (moistest?) banana bread you will taste. It keeps really well, although I don't think you'll have to worry about that.

For Christmas this year, my mother sent me the NordicWare Gingerbread Loaf pan. In a tizzy to try it out, I used the recipe they included. I was going to bookmark it in my browser, but it's not one they keep online. Rather disappointing, since my family has declared it a necessity to have this in-house at least once a month! This is the first loaf I've produced with this mold as well as this recipe. There's only one piece left, 3 days later, and I'm saving it for after lunch.

Photo of loaf - might be too wide for some layouts - it's 600 pixels wide )

Today, foreman and senior site staff closed shop and left early without telling me.

I have the beginnings of a cough, sore throat and random dizziness.

So. Fucking. Cold. But now I'm under a total of around 30 tog of duvets because I don't want to turn the heating on. Heh.

I would like to give my extended family little gift bags of cookies for Christmas this year. Since I can't afford to buy everyone presents ( my family is huge) I'm hoping to make something, rather than giving store bought cookies. However, I have no cookie recipes.

I will be making at least three different kinds of cookie. I was guessing sugar, snickerdoodle, and chocolate chip - but I am very open to suggestions.

So what are your favorite cookie recipes?

I want to make a pasta gift basked as a Christmas gift. If I make the pasta on Wednesday, how do I keep it fresh until Friday? Actually they'd probably end up cooking it on Saturday...so what do I do? Dry it? Just ziplock it? Help!

Today's little rays of bitter sunshine in 140 characters or less

  • 17:36 @lowercaserho I can definitely see that. In Brazil I saw a lot of wild toucans mocking the caged ones. #

Hmmm.

I need a tried and tested fudge recipe. My dad wants fudge this year but he hates the marshmallow cream stuff.

I want to blow him away with my excellent fudge making abilities so I need your recipes, tips, etc. Thanks! :)

Hi all. My fiance and I hosted a Christmas party on Saturday, and it went incredibly well. So well, in fact, that nothing was left of the ham but the bone and a few scraps. Haha. I want to make a soup or something with the bone, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any tried and true recipes out there you could pass on to me? Thanks much.

i love my crockpot more than most other kitchen items, it has produced some really delicious things, but my past couple of attempts at soup have been utter crockpot fail. each time, i've tossed in a bunch of veggies (mostly leafy greens these days), herbs, onion, and whatever else was about to go bad, added a bunch of broth, a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, and set it on high. after a couple of hours, immersion-blend. they always smell decent, but taste ranges from meh to just bad. what am i doing wrong??

These cookies are sweet, simple, warm, and homey. I've taken the liberty of dubbing them Cinnamon Roll Cookies, though their original name was Iced Cinnamon Chip Cookies. I think they taste just like buttery glazed cinnamon rolls in chewy cookie form!.

We loved them -- definitely going in the "make again" pile!

I made these brownies for my school's bake sale.
They're store bought brownies and I found the recipe on the back of the box, which was really simple! :D
